Power and Performance

The 2017 Ford Super Duty offers a choice of two powerful engines. The 6.2L V6 engine uses two valves for powerful performance, along with a single overhead cam shaft. The specially tuned induction system ensures you get the power you need when you need it, with sequential electronic fuel injection for perfect performance. This engine produces 385 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. With the fifth wheel goose neck towing system, it can tow up to 16,300 lbs. at a time! You can also choose the 6.7L Power Stroke V8 engine, which is a turbo diesel made for intense towing. The high-pressure common rail fuel injection provides steady and constant diesel power, with a single sequential turbocharger and charged air cooler. This engine produces 440 hp and an incredible 925 lb-ft of torque! It can tow up to 32,000 lbs. at a time when equipped with the fifth wheel goose neck trailer.

The 2016 Chevrolet Silverado offers a choice of two engines as well. The Vortec 6.0L V8 engine uses stratified fuel injection and variable valve timing for a steady stream of power that doesn't reduce fuel efficiency. It produces only 360 hp and a mere 380 lb-ft of torque, and can tow up to 14,500 lbs. at a time with the fifth wheel trailer. You can also choose the Duramax 6.6L turbo diesel V8 engine, which uses turbocharged direct fuel injection for the power you need. It produces only 397 hp and 765 lb-ft of torque, towing up to 16,900 lbs. at a time. That's just slightly over half of what the Ford Super Duty's diesel engine can tow!

Which Truck is Right For You?

2017 Ford Superduty

You might still be trying to choose between the 2017 Ford Super Duty and the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado. If you're looking for sheer power, the 2017 Ford Super Duty is your pick. Both the standard gasoline engine and the larger diesel engine produce more horsepower and more torque than the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado's corresponding engines. You'll also be able to tow almost twice as much cargo than the Silverado when you choose the Ford Super Duty's diesel engine. Tow items as large as motorboats, tractors, or even an entire house! For a heavy-duty towing truck, the choice is easy.
