2017 Ford Flex vs. 2017 Honda Pilot

If you're searching for a powerful, versatile SUV, you might be tempted to overlook the 2017 Ford Flex in favor of the 2017 Honda Pilot for your Bradley and Peotone family. The often under-hyped Flex offers drivers more space, better features, and unique options the engineers at Honda haven't even dreamed of. Check out our comparison of these two large SUVs and see if you don't agree that, when it comes to the amenities that will take your next adventure to another level, there is no better choice than a Ford Flex at Terry's Ford.

Safety and Reliability

Features like the optional second-row inflatable safety belts in the Ford Flex help to protect cabin occupants from serious neck and back injury in the event of a collision. The Honda Pilot doesn’t offer inflatable safety belts. The Ford is also equipped with high-strength materials, such as the chain drive which requires less frequent maintenance than the Honda’s belt-drive. This difference in materials means that the Ford will be cheaper and easier to maintain over time. In fact, in recent J.D. Power and Associate’s surveys, the Ford line of vehicles was rated above industry average for initial quality, the Honda line scored well below the industry average.

Standard and Available Features

Ford’s Flex Crossover offers a reversible rear tailgate seat that can be flipped rearward – a handy feature for soccer families and tailgaters. The Honda doesn’t have a reversible seat. The Ford Flex also offers standard amenities like heated exterior mirrors, automatic power off headlamps, an exterior pin entry system, and available parking assist system to help drivers navigate tight parking spaces. The Honda does offer heated exterior mirrors and automatic off headlamps, but drivers must pay more to get those features. The large Pilot SUV does not have an optional parking assist feature, so drivers will have to wedge the vehicle into tight city spaces without assistance.
