Powertrains and MPG

powerful engine of 2016 expeditionUnlike other SUVs, the 2016 Ford Expedition doesn’t make Chicago and Manteno drivers pay extra for the kind of power and performance which they deserve; instead, a cutting-edge 3.5L EcoBoost V6 with a 6-speed automatic SelectShift transmission is provided across all trim levels.

You’ll be put in command of an impressive 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque for phenomenal acceleration and a thrilling drive. At the same time, EcoBoost technology ensures that you’re never burning too much fuel. You’ll earn up to 16 mpg in the city and 22 on the highway with front-wheel drive, or 15 and 20 with all-wheel drive, while riding in a standard length model. EL Expeditions allow 15 and 21 mpg in front-wheel drive or 14 and 20 with all-wheel drive.

Interior Space and Versatility

There’s a generous 21.0 cu. ft. of storage capacity with all seats occupied, but you can fold the third-row bench seat for up to 43.8 cu. ft. Models fitted with the PowerFold third-row seat with one-touch-up-and-down function can extend that up to a best-in-class maximum cargo space of 130.8 cu. ft.

Tech Features

2016 Ford Expedition SYNC® 3The most celebrated on-board system offered with the 2016 Ford Expedition is doubtlessly the SYNC 3. An all-new upgraded system, it offers high speed performance, enhanced voice recognition software, and a capacitive touchscreen with swipe capability. Features include available navigation with easy destination entry and Siri seamless integration.

Other optional features include:

  • Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD): Allows Chicago and Manteno drivers to choose between comfort, normal, or sport settings. Electronic sensors then monitor suspension, steering, braking, and body motions to make the appropriate adjustments.
  • Sony Sound System: For rich, crystal clear sound, drivers can enjoy the 12-speaker, 390-watt audio system from Sony, which also includes a subwoofer behind the second-row seats.
  • Forward and Reverse Sensing: Ultrasonic sensors in your bumpers detect objects when the vehicle is either moving forward or backing up at low speeds, beeping faster as you approach for easy parking and maneuvering.
