Since its introduction for the 2007 model year, the Ford Edge midsize crossover has become a hit with families at our Peotone and Bradley-area Ford dealership. When the 2015 Ford Edge arrives at Terry’s Ford, it will be fully redesigned for the first time in the vehicle’s lifespan. This includes new architecture, styling, performance, features, and much more.
With the 2015 Ford Edge, Ford has modernized the styling of the crossover to be more in line with their Ford Fusion sedan. In fact, the Edge rides on a new platform borrowed from the Fusion. With the new styling and platform, headroom will increase an inch, and legroom will increase two inches in the front and one inch in the back. Cargo capacity will also move up to 39.2 cubic feet behind the back row and up to 73.4 cubic feet with all seats folded down.
The latest Edge will have three different engine options. The first is a 2.0L four-cylinder engine that has been turbocharged to produce 245 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque. Drivers can upgrade from there to either a 3.5L V6 or a 2.7L turbo V6 that will be available on Edge Sport trims. This engine should produce around 300 hp.
As a family vehicle, safety is going to be very important to customers searching for the Edge. Ford understands that and has outfitted the CUV with a number of standard and available safety features. A rearview camera will come standard with the Edge as will a new advanced front passenger knee airbag that emerges from the glove box door when needed. Other safety features include adaptive cruise control with automatic braking, inflatable rear seatbelts, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keeping assist.
The 2015 Ford Edge is expected to arrive at Terry’s Ford early in 2015.
