There has been a lot of buzz that a 2014 Ford Explorer Hybrid might be coming to dealerships. As of right now, there’s been no official word on whether it will be coming to our Ford dealer near Bradley this year, but it’s a possibility. The Ford Explorer has been quite adept at change in the past, moving from a mid-size SUV to a larger crossover to reflect changing consumer desires. Here is a little of what you might expect with a hybrid Explorer.
Right now the most fuel-efficient engine option for the
Explorer is a 2.0L turbocharged EcoBoost four-cylinder which is capable of
getting a best-in-class 20 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. While this is already
quite amazing for a vehicle of its size, a hybrid powertrain would likely be
most effective in terms of improving city mileage. A large car like the
Explorer is most ineffective in stop-and-start city driving where a lot of fuel
is lost. It might even be possible to raise the city mpg to about the same as
the Explorer’s highway mpg.
While we don’t know what the Ford Explorer might have in terms of features, there are a few things that would help to make the vehicle more fuel efficient:
Who knows if the Explorer Hybrid is coming, but in the meantime you can come to Terry’s Ford to learn more about future Ford vehicles.
