Peotone drivers have to swallow some unfortunate news: Ford isn’t releasing a 2014 Escape Hybrid. While the Escape got a total redesign for the 2013 model year, the hybrid was sadly discontinued. However, if you were counting on it, Ford is offering an official replacement in the 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid. There are also other alternative fuel options available at our dealership, and even some older models of the Escape, if your heart is set.
Have you ever wanted the passenger space of a crossover SUV but with the fuel efficiency of a hatchback hybrid like the Prius? Well, the Ford C-Max is the answer. This wagon is very spacious and gets a combined mpg rating of 47, which is actually five mpg better than the Prius V. It’s also got a very affordable starting price of $25,200. There are two trim levels available and all sorts of hi-tech features like a power liftgate and an automatic parallel parking system. There’s also a plug-in version available called the energy.
The Fusion leaves the crossover/wagon territory, as a hybrid sedan. The Ford Fusion Hybrid offers incredible fuel efficiency—a combined score of 47 mpg—and some luxury touches. Like the C-Max, the Fusion has incredible options such as the parallel parking system, MyFord Touch infotainment system, heated mirrors, and even rain-sensing wipers.
Another direction to take is to go all electric with the Ford Focus Electric. It offers a range of about 76 miles solely on a battery charge. Charging itself is quite simple and takes around four hours, which is around half the time the Nissan Leaf takes.
